Shofar Bible School is an informal, non-accredited discipleship course aimed at empowering believers to grow in faith, devotion, and understanding. It is not so much an academic school as it is a school of life. Jesus defines discipleship as being obedient to God (Matt. 28:18). Life in Christ is, therefore, incomplete if the knowledge we acquire does not influence our daily lives.

Bible School is divided into three years; 1st, 2nd and 3rd year. Each year covers 70 – 75 session, once a week, over a period of 26 weeks. Need more information? You can download a list of covered topics or follow the link to find a campus near you.

live lectures

Live Lecture classes are presented as 2 semester courses in a year. Classes are in the evening, usually once per week for 2-3 hours (the schedule and number of lectures per evening is determined by the local Bible School). Students come together as a learning community to reflect on biblical truth and to grapple with its implications for our walk of discipleship. Teachers create an environment where students are encouraged to engage, contribute and ask questions.  Our classes are built on the value of respect; both for the Bible as God’s infallible Word and for each person’s process of transformation. host bible school (for campuses)

Bible School is available, not only to Shofar congregations, but to any church or informal group who would like to create an intentional discipleship community that is centred around the Word of God. Our different options ensure that Bible School is user-friendly and effective in a range of diverse scenarios. Download the campus options PDF to view the different registration scenarios.

COMMUNITY: RELATING in love
Matthew 22:37-39 Jesus said to him, “You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, with all your soul, and with all your mind.” This is the first and great commandment. And the second is like it: “You shall love your neighbour as yourself”.

Relationship enjoys the Lord’s highest priority. In obedience to above-mentioned commands, we seek to establish believers in a loyal and intimate relational commitment not only to God, but also to their neighbours and themselves.

SPIRITUAL FORMATION: BEING like Christ
Romans 8:29 For whom He foreknew, He also predestined to be conformed to the image of His Son, that He might be the firstborn among many brethren.

God has called us to maturity by being conformed to the character of Christ. At Bible School we seek to impart values of servanthood, moral courage, integrity, and wholeness.

THE WORD: THINKING biblically
Philippians 2:5 Let this mind be in you which was also in Christ Jesus…

Romans 12:2 And do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, that you may prove what is that good and acceptable and perfect will of God.

By actively engaging the Holy Spirit, we seek to facilitate the process of mind renewal in believers. The purpose is to cultivate a biblical worldview based on the foundations of wisdom, intellectual humility, and a love of the truth.

SERVICE: DOING His works
John 14:12 Most assuredly, I say to you, he who believes in Me, the works that I do he will do also; and greater works than these he will do, because I go to My Father.

It is essential that we as believers demonstrate our faith practically by applying Scripture and by doing the works of Christ. We purpose to mobilise believers to be inspirational leaders who minister in the supernatural gifts of the Holy Spirit, as emphasised by the Apostle Paul in 1 Corinthians 2:2-4. The degree to which men and women of God commit themselves to applying the Word of God through the transforming power of the Holy Spirit, is the degree to which God can realise His desire to do “exceedingly abundantly above all that we ask or think, according to the power that works in us” (Ephesians 3:20).
