COVID-19 | A Christian Response

The coronavirus pandemic is one of the defining events of our time. How will the Church respond? How do we love our neighbour? How can we help?

Our Shofar congregations are not drawing back from the need around us and are actively involved in serving their communities though established NGO’s and in collaboration with other local community organisations.

See below to find out more and how to get involved.

Relief.Life

Relief.Life is a Christian-based disaster management organisation that provides physical relief and support to areas affected by natural and man-induced catastrophes.

We’re responding to the overwhelming needs all over the Western Cape in partnership with the National Disaster Management Centre, local municipalities and other NGO’s.

We’re helping the homeless and those in need in poorer areas, doing blanket drives, soap and sanitiser drives and transporting people in need to clinics and hospitals.

Donations to aid relief work can be made directly into the relief.life bank account or via GivenGain.com.

Intercede

The best thing you can do to connect with the Body of Christ is to join us in prayer:

Finally, be strong in the Lord and in the strength of his might. Put on the whole armor of God, that you may be able to stand against the schemes of the devil. For we do not wrestle against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the cosmic powers over this present darkness, against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly places. Therefore take up the whole armor of God, that you may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand firm. Stand therefore, having fastened on the belt of truth, and having put on the breastplate of righteousness, and, as shoes for your feet, having put on the readiness given by the gospel of peace. In all circumstances take up the shield of faith, with which you can extinguish all the flaming darts of the evil one; and take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God, praying at all times in the Spirit, with all prayer and supplication. To that end, keep alert with all perseverance, making supplication for all the saints,

Ephesians 6:10-18 (ESV)

The prayer of a righteous person is powerful and effective.

James 5:16 (ESV)
