God’s Word in your world

The greatest and most important adventure in life is what the Bible calls discipleship. Discipleship means that we inherently and irrevocably change as human beings. How do we change? The Bible teaches us that there is nothing more important than becoming like Jesus. Through the ages, the church has confirmed that the Bible is both the standard and the guide that instructs, confronts and inspires us in the process of following Jesus.

That is why a platform like Bible School is so appropriate, because it affords us the opportunity to immerse ourselves in the words and the world of the Bible where we can learn who God is, who we are as human beings and how we can become more like Jesus in the process.

live lectures

How do live lectures work?

Live Lectures are presented at our campuses on one evening a week for 2-3 hours. Our live lectures are built on the value of respect: both for the Bible as God’s infallible Word and for each person’s process of transformation. Campuses can present our 3-year Bible School curriculum as year courses or as semester courses.

How much do live lectures cost?

Costs vary per campus:

Year course: R0 - R800

Semester Course: R0 - R400

Where can I enrol?

Registrations are online here. Choose the course you are interested in to see if there's a campus near you.

*Note: some campuses' registrations might have closed already. We also offer a correspondence option that will enable you to complete Bible School through distance-learning. Otherwise, please contact us if you can’t find a campus near you.

How long does it take to complete?

The courses are available to do independently. For example, once you have completed 1st year you can continue with 2nd year at any time at one of our campuses or via correspondence. After completion of 2nd year you can continue with our 3rd year course.

Who can do Bible School?

Bible School is open to anyone who has a desire to grow spiritually. You do not need an academic qualification and you do not need to be a member of a Shofar Christian Church. To attend live lectures, you need to live close to an existing campus; alternatively, see the “correspondence” section.

What about accreditation?

Bible School is not accredited, but students who have completed all three years can receive Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL) from the South African Theological Seminary (SATS). This means that students are awarded 60 credits, which is equivalent to half of a first year in Theology, for completing Bible School.

The credits are awarded for the following subjects:

  1. THE1121 Christian Foundations
  2. THE1122 Biblical Worldview
  3. PRA1123 Leading with Purpose
  4. THE2121 Doctrine of the Church
  5. MIN1121 Practical Ministry 1
