Women’s Month – We are Free

Did you know that God made men and women in His image, to reflect Who He is to the world? We are fearfully and wonderfully made, each with our unique gifts and talents, likes and dislikes, personality and character.

As women, we are prone to comparison. We constantly compare ourselves to other women, those who always look like they have everything sorted out, which makes us feel ashamed about who God has created us to be. We tend to be gracious toward others, yet hard on ourselves. We are not always free to be ourselves because we try to fit the mould or meet the expectations set by the world. In the process, we wear ourselves out with unreasonable expectations instead of just being… Being free. Being ourselves. Being loved. Being happy. Being fulfilled. The beautiful truth is that we can be free from the burdens and baggage we take upon ourselves.

Galatians 5:1 reads “For freedom Christ has set us free; stand firm therefore, and do not submit again to a yoke of slavery.”

Christ has set us free, but in our hearts and minds we allow ourselves to be in bondage. As women, we know how to pack our bags nice and full (there is always space to add that extra pair of shoes)! Likewise, we tend to travel with a whole lot of emotional baggage – baggage that keeps us in bondage and under a yolk of slavery. But God is calling us to travel light! He has called us to take up His yoke, which is easy, and His burden, that is light, to cast our cares, our flaws, our everything on Him, and to live as free women.

During Woman’s Month we want to celebrate the areas where we are walking in freedom and prophetically claim the freedom Christ died to purchase for us. I would like to give us a challenge during August:

I would love to see each woman in our church family to connect with another woman in church that you would like to get to know better. Make a date for coffee or just to chat while you make food or out shopping. Make time to connect with at least one lady in church that you don’t know well and share your freedom story. Each one of us has a story that God can use to enable freedom in someone else’s life.

Love, Rochelle
