shofar malawi

by Anton Myburgh (Shofar Network)

For almost a decade we’ve been sending mission teams to the Antioch churches in Malawi and Pastor Henry Mkhomanya, who founded these churches, has crept into our hearts and become a familiar face at our global conference.

At Convergence 2013, Pastor Henry shared with us that it was his desire, and that of the Antioch leadership, for their churches to formally become part of the Shofar movement and in April this year Hercules Opperman, Jan-Cor Brink and I travelled to Mangochi in Malawi to meet with the leaders. Over the course of three (very long) days we worked through our vision, constitution, Bible School, leadership development and much more, developing strategies and plans for the next two years.

We’re very excited to welcome these 24 churches into the Shofar family! Our Bible School material will be translated into Chichewa and a specially adapted Ministry Training Programme is being developed and presented in Malawi next year. We’re also implementing the new Shofar database system in Malawi this year, but we need your help! If you’ve got a spare Android and Apple smartphone (with charger) that you’d like to donate, you can drop it off at your local Shofar office. It would go a long way towards helping the pastors of Shofar Malawi get connected with our larger church family!

  1. ‘n Span van 4 vanaf Ceres gemeente was bevoorreg om verlede jaar na Malawi te gaan. ‘n Deeltjie van my hart het agter gebly. Ons het gister plastiekgoedere en komberse vanaf Worcester en Ceres gemeente by julle kom aflewer vir ons familie in Malawi. Mag al die goedere vervierdubbel en al die nood aangespreek word.
